Literatura i Kultura Popularna

Academic journal “Literatura i Kultura Popularna” (“Popular Literature and Culture”) was established in 1991 as a result of cooperation between researchers interested in literature and popular culture from many academic centers in Poland. It is the first and oldest academic journal in Poland dedicated to popular literature and culture. First of all, journal’s activity helps developing, still not too much advanced in Poland, studies of international popular literature and culture – in a broad sense of these terms. It also aims at sharing scientific ideas between researchers, at spreading knowledge about “cultural products” of the modern world, about their roots, tradition, evolution, development prospects, values they add, their benefits and possible dangers. We invite both Polish and foreign Authors to cooperation. The journal comes out annually. We publish reviews, polemics and articles on various aspects of popular literature and culture: games theory (RPGs), popular cinema (mass market films), film genres, authors, themes and genres of popular literature, literary and film adaptations, conversions into other disciplines of arts, frontiers of the genre, mixed genres such as comics and so on. We are interested in works discussing definitions, genological problems, social circulations, divisions of literature, market and audience, sociological and psychological aspects etc.; interdisciplinary works representing and combining achievements in various fields of academic research, not necessarily limited to the humanities. Particular volumes are to a large extent devoted to the discussion of specific issues. Information about the subject matter of a next issue is published on the website of the magazine.

The abstracts of articles published in „Literatura and Kultura Popularna” can be found in the database Czasopisma Naukowe w Sieci (CNS) and also in The Central European Journal of Social Sciences and Humanities (on the basis of a contract between WUWr and CEJSH). Due to an agreement between the Publisher and MLA Directory of Periodicals copies of the journal are also submitted to the database Cambridge Scientific Abstracts (CSA, ProQuest).
